Believe it or not if the drive isn’t totally crashed (Platters touching grinding etc.)and will still spin up put it in an zip lock bag then in the freezer for 20 min. then try the data transfer also if you have a long enough cord on your usb adapter you can leave it in the cold while you get that one last transfer out of it. The cold will help keep the parts from expanding due to heat and just might save you those $$$. I’ve used this on my clients crashed drives multiple times with about 75% success
